The 189 Visa New Zealand Stream (PR) is for citizens of New Zealand who have shown commitment and contribution to Australia and would like to apply for Permanent Residence. With this visa, applicants can work and live in Australia permanently.
New Zealand citizens who have been granted this visa are eligible to apply for Australian citizenship after 12 months besides holding a Special Category visa for a period of 5 years.
Eligibility
The applicant is required to be a New Zealand Special Category SC 444 Visa holder
You are required to have resided in Australia for at least the last 5 years
Must have been residing in Australia on or before 19th February 2016
You must have an income that is taxable at or above the specific income threshold for at least 3 of the 5 income years before lodging your visa application.

If you are in Australia when your visa has been granted to you, your Permanent Residence commences on the same day. If you are outside Australia when the visa has been granted, your PR begins on the day you enter Australia.
