VETASSES launches new Recognition of Prior Learning

The Australian assessment specialist VETASSES has launched RPL programs for individuals and Businesses that can be completed online.

What this means is that it individuals who have gained their skills via formal and informal trainings can demonstrate their abilities to VETASSESS and this can reduce the amount of training needed for trade apprentices etc. As of now the RPL programs has been launched for assessment services in:

  • Commercial Cookery (Certificates III and IV)
  • Asian Cookery (Certificates III and IV)

Coming soon are assessment services in Certificate III courses in Light Vehicle automotive technology, Heavy commercial vehicle mechanical technology and others.

VETASSESS Executive Director Rob Thomason has mentioned that RPL is generally a faster way to gain a qualification than by completing a training course, because it recognizes work and life experience.

“The skills we assess are in short supply in Australia and employers want to hire qualified people in these occupations,” he said.
