NSW Skilled Work Regional Visa (Sc 491)

NSW is now accepting applications for the Sc 491 visa under Pathway 1 and Pathway 3, though places are limited:

  • Pathway 1 – Work in Regional NSW: Applicants must be working in their nominated occupation in a designated regional area of NSW for six continuous months with a single employer. There’s now added flexibility, as applicants no longer have to live in NSW for Pathway 1, allowing those living in border towns to apply.

  • Pathway 3 – Regional NSW Graduate: Graduates from regional NSW institutions who completed their study within the past two years and have a degree related to their nominated occupation may qualify.

ACT Skilled Migration Invitation Round

The ACT recently held a skilled migration invitation round on 24 October 2024, issuing 95 Sc 190 nominations and 132 Sc 491 nominations. Highlights include invitations for Canberra residents and applicants in critical skill occupations. The next invitation round is scheduled before 6 December 2024.

Changes to NSW School Enrolment Policy for Dependents of Temporary Visa Holders

Starting 1 January 2025, all dependents of temporary visa holders will be able to enroll in their local NSW school based on their residential address. For families living in regional areas and holding Temporary Skills Shortage visas (Sc 482), enrolment fees will be waived. This change helps ensure more equitable access to education for all students on temporary visas.

IELTS Results Service for Registered Migration Agents (RMAs)

RMAs now have access to a secure online IELTS Results service, allowing them to verify applicants’ IELTS scores quickly and accurately before submission. This new system ensures that test scores are genuine and trusted, streamlining the visa application process.
