Our Comprehensive Family Visa Services

FTS Visa Services offers end-to-end assistance across all family-stream visa categories. We ensure that both the sponsor and the applicant meet the rigorous criteria for long-term residency in Australia.

Partner & Spouse Visas

If you are in a married or de facto relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen, we help you secure your future together. We assist with:

  • Partner Visa (Subclass 820/801 – Onshore): For couples currently in Australia.
  • Partner Visa (Subclass 309/100 – Offshore): For couples applying from outside Australia.
  • Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300): For those planning to marry their Australian partner.
Parent Visas

Bringing your parents to Australia is a wonderful way to ensure family support and connection. We specialise in:

  • Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143/173): Faster processing pathways for parents involving a higher financial contribution.
  • Aged Parent Visa (Subclass 804): An onshore, non-contributory permanent visa for parents who are already in Australia and meet the Australian age pension age. While it has a significantly longer waiting period, it allows parents to remain in Australia on a Bridging Visa throughout the process.
  • Parent Visa (Subclass 103): An offshore, non-contributory permanent residency option for parents outside Australia.
  • Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 870): Allowing parents to visit for up to 10 years without meeting the Balance of Family test.

Child & Dependent Visas

Ensure your children can join you in Australia with permanent residency pathways designed for families. We handle:

  • Child Visa (Subclass 101/802): For biological or adopted children.
  • Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445): For children of parents currently holding a temporary partner visa.

Other Family Visas

We also provide support for specialised family circumstances, including:

  • Remaining Relative Visa (Subclass 115/835)
  • Carer Visa (Subclass 116/836)
  • Orphan Relative Visa (Subclass 117/837)

FAQ

Processing times vary significantly by visa subclass. Currently, Partner Visas (Subclass 820/801) typically take between 12 to 24 months for the temporary stage, though “decision-ready” applications processed by MARA agents often see faster results. Contributory Parent Visas (Subclass 143) are subject to annual caps and currently have a significant queue, often exceeding 12+ years. For families needing faster reunification, we often recommend the Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 870), which can be granted in just a few months.

The Balance of Family test is a mandatory requirement for most permanent parent visas. To pass, you must show that:

  • At least half of your children and step-children are settled permanently in Australia, OR
  • More of your children live permanently in Australia than in any other single country.

This test is complex and counts all children of both parents. Our team can help you calculate your eligibility before you commit to the high costs of a contributory visa.

Yes, it is often possible to apply for an Onshore Partner Visa (Subclass 820) while in Australia on a Visitor Visa, provided your current visa does not have a “No Further Stay” (Condition 8503). Applying onshore usually allows you to receive a Bridging Visa, granting you full work rights and access to Medicare while you wait for a decision. We strongly advise a consultation before applying to ensure you meet the “Schedule 3” requirements if your substantive visa is nearing expiry.

Australian family visas are a significant investment. As of 2026:

  • Partner Visas: The Department of Home Affairs fee is approximately AUD 9,365.
  • Contributory Parent Visas: These require a two-stage payment totaling roughly AUD 48,000+ per applicant.
  • Assurance of Support (AoS): Many family visas also require a financial bond (AoS) to ensure the applicant does not rely on government social security for a set period (usually 10 years for parents).

For Partner Visas, the Department looks for evidence across four pillars:

  1. Financial: Joint bank accounts, shared assets, or household bills.
  2. Social: Evidence of being recognized as a couple by friends/family and joint travel.
  3. Household: Shared living arrangements, lease agreements, or mail at the same address.
  4. Commitment: Knowledge of each other’s personal circumstances and plans for a long-term future.
